Screen Rant is can exclusively present a clip from the award-winning climate change documentary Invisible Demons, which is currently streaming on MUBI. Filmmaker Rahul Jain (Machines) helms the exposé, which already premiered at Cannes Film Festival 2021. Focusing on Delhi, the new documentary explores how India's growing economy has adversely affected its environment. Considering that some of the largest nations in the world deny climate change, or at least refuse to acknowledge its consequences, Jain's breathtaking cinematography is meant to open society's eyes.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY
In its tight 70-minute runtime, Invisible Demons takes audiences on a tour of present-day Dehli, complete with vivid images and personal accounts from its residents. Produced by Iikka Vehkalahti and Heino Deckert and executive produced by Participant’s Jeff Skoll and Diane Weyermann, alongside Frank Lehmann, the timely documentary seeks to engage its viewers in an ongoing debate. Whether or not modernity is worth sacrificing the planet's environment, humans everywhere deserve access to clean air and water, which begs the question of how technology and nature can coexist.
Screen Rant's exclusive clip from Invisible Demons, which you can view above, focuses on the Yamuna River. Located in Dehli, the river was once pristine and thought to be sacred because Yamuna was the daughter of Lord Sun according to holy texts, as well as the sister of Yamraj (the God of Death) and Shani (the God of punishment). Furthermore, the historic Red Fort was located at the end and further served to keep the water clean. The current generation, however, has never seen the river be its true clear color because of how bad pollution has gotten.
