Thor: Love & Thunder was the first time Loki didn't return for a Thor film, but Avengers: The Kang Dynasty could be the perfect movie for the two Asgardian brothers to reunite. Loki seemed to finally meet his end in the opening of Avengers: Infinity War, but a reunion has been on the cards since the character's appearance in an earlier timeline in Avengers: Endgame, albeit, a version where post-Avengers events hadn't yet happened to him. Loki season 1 saw Loki come to terms with his existence as a wayward variant who did not adhere to the Sacred Timeline and He Who Remains' set plan.

With Loki's very own Disney+ Marvel show dealing with the multiverse, and a second season on the way, Tom Hiddleston's character is positioning himself to be a key part of the Multiverse Saga. With Loki now unable to return to a Thor movie before Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, the question for many is when the God of Mischief will meet his brother from another timeline. The last two Avengers films were massive displays of the entire MCU roster, so Avengers 5 may be the ideal time to bring Loki and Thor back together.

With Loki season 1 ending with the deregulation of the multiverse and a Kang the Conqueror cliffhanger, Loki and Kang certainly have unfinished business. Season 2 will deal with this in more detail, so the next logical place for Loki to turn up, outside his series, would be the team-up movie with Kang as the focus. Not only is this the best place for Loki to make his return to the MCU film fold, but it is also perfect for a Thor and Loki reunion. Since Loki was too busy with the TVA, and technically dead in the main timeline, he didn't return in Love & Thunder, making it the first time Chris Hemsworth made a Thor movie without Tom Hiddleston. A reunion at this point would also work for where Thor is in his character arc, as his focus has shifted more toward family after Thor: Love & Thunder's ending.

How Loki Can Help Defeat Kang In Avengers 5

Two of the most important characters in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty are likely to be Ant-Man, with Kang being the main villain in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaina, and Loki. After appearing in the season 1 finale of Loki as He Who Remains, Jonathan Majors has yet to play the conquering version of Kang that will be in the upcoming Avengers movie. That looks set to change in season 2 of Loki. After season 1, Loki is one of only a few main MCU characters that know about Kang and how dangerous he is. His insight could be incredibly valuable in order to stop Kang.

So, even though Loki can't return to the Thor movies, the better place for a reunion between the two brothers is Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Given how large in scale Avengers movies usually are, this would just be one small plot point. As has been shown before, however, the MCU balances huge spectacle with quieter character moments. If the MCU can keep that up for the next era of the Avengers then fans should be in for a treat.
