The Flash movie star Saoirse-Monica Jackson teases her mystery character. One of the DCEU movies that got announced as part of Warner Bros.'s original slate in 2014 was The Flash film, as Ezra Miller got tapped as the cinematic version of the Scarlet Speedster. While Miller went on to appear in numerous DCEU projects, The Flash got stuck in development as the creative team kept changing until IT director Andy Muschietti boarded the project, which went into principal photography in 2021.

Initially, The Flash was set to open in theaters this November but got pushed back until June 2023, partially due to extensive post-production work. Loosley based on the DC Comics storyline Flashpoint, The Flash follows Barry Allen's adventures as he attempts to change the past, which takes him into the Multiverse. This is how the DCEU is re-introducing Michael Keaton as Batman, making it the first time the actor has suited up since 1992's Batman Returns. The Flash will also introduce Supergirl into the DCEU, with Sasha Calle portraying the Girl of Steel.

While The Flash wrapped principal photography last year, there are still a few mysteries that never got addressed, and one of them was Jackson, who joined the cast in May 2021. With Jackson having an undisclosed role, the actress recently chatted about her experience shooting The Flash in a new interview with Vanity Fair. When asked if she could say anything about her character, the 28-year-old Derry Girls alum stressed that she was afraid of saying too much and risking upsetting Warner Bros. However, Jackson teased that her mystery player is a "fun, interesting," and "very different" character in comparison to her previous characters, sharing the following:

"I’m so scared of Warner Bros. I’m just so delighted that I got the part that I’m so scared to even speak about it in case I get fired. So I can’t tell you anything at the moment, but I’m really delighted about playing her. She’s a really fun, interesting character and a very different character from things I’ve played in the past. I’ve worked with some amazing people and I just loved the experience."

Who Jackson Could Be Playing In The Flash Movie

The Flash movie Ezra Miller

Given the loaded secrecy surrounding her character in The Flash, it wouldn't come as a shock if Jackson is possibly playing someone from the DC Universe, specifically a player in the Scarlet Speedster's mythology. Even though a good portion of the story will take place on Keaton's Earth (which the Arrowverse dubbed Earth-89,) it's worth noting that they have never clarified if there is a villain in The Flash or not. Perhaps Jackson's character is portraying an antagonist, whether it be from Earth-DCEU or on Earth-89. One of the prominent female foes in The Flash lore is Golden Glider, who was rumored to be in one of the earlier drafts of the film back in 2016, and perhaps this is how they are factoring her into this version of the movie.

On the other hand, there is the scenario where, despite keeping her role a secret, Jackson is playing a completely original character with no ties to the comics. So far, Warner Bros. has only released one The Flash trailer, and Jackson was nowhere to be seen in that footage. It is possible future trailers will showcase her, as well as the mystery characters that Rudy Mancuso and Luke Brandon Field are playing in The Flash movie. Even though the project's status is in an odd place due to Miller's legal controversies in 2022, time will tell who Jackson is playing in The Flash.
