Amy Adams dished on how a big Enchanted mistake has finally been corrected in the upcoming sequel Disenchanted. The 2007 Enchanted film marked Disney's first attempt to break away from the traditional fairytales and flip the idea of a damsel in distress on its head. Adams' princess Giselle comes from the faraway fairytale land Andalasia when she suddenly finds herself in stone cold-hearted New York City having to fend for herself. Despite being promised to Prince Edward (James Marsden) back home, Giselle falls in love with Robert (Patrick Dempsey), a divorce lawyer who isn't all that sure that her prince charming is coming to her rescue after all.

Robert, in turn, is a single father who is planning to marry his girlfriend Nancy, played by musical powerhouse Idina Menzel. Things do not completely work out for Menzel's Nancy, as Giselle decides to forgo her betrothed Prince Edward, and marry her true love Robert instead. Still, Nancy didn't come out of this empty-handed and ended up marrying Prince Edward and leaving New York for faraway Andalasia to live happily ever after. Disenchanted will gleam into what happily ever after actually turned out to be.

In a recent interview with EW, Adams talked about her experience in revisiting her first major role on the big screen after so many years. When asked about the musical aspect of the film, the actor said that Disenchanted is a lot more of a musical than Enchanted ever was, with a lot more singing and dancing. And this time, they're correcting a big mistake from the first movie, which was never using Menzel's fantastic voice in the musical numbers the first time around:

That was the grossest oversight, her never singing in the first one. She sings twice, and I couldn't be happier. Yes, that's a Wicked reference. But I'm thrilled. Her song is so beautiful. It's one of my favorite moments of the movie. She's Idina — she's special and has such a beautiful voice.

Giselle as a wicked stepmother

As Menzel has become renowned for her singing talents, including the smash-hit Frozen, her voice will be a welcome addition to the film. Adams also brings up Menzel's past success on Broadway as she previously performed in the popular Wizard of Oz prequel musical Wicked. Having two separate songs in Disenchantment will help make up for missing out on her talented voice in the first movie.

Scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on November 24, Disenchanted will bring two powerhouse voices together in a potential reversal of roles from the first movie. It will certainly be interesting to see the differences between Princess Giselle, who has been living in gritty NYC for the past 15 years, and Nancy, who went from being a sensible New Yorker to a fairytale princess.
