A new Evil Dead Rise behind-the-scenes set photo previews a particularly gory dismemberment sequence in the upcoming film. A new movie in the cult favorite Evil Dead horror franchise has been in the works for nearly a decade, with a sequel to Fede Álvarez's 2013 reboot initially planned to connect to an Army of Darkness follow-up. But Álvarez would move on to other projects, and Bruce Campbell retired as the on-screen iteration of franchise protagonist Ash Williams. However, in 2020, The Evil Dead director Sam Raimi announced a partnership with Campbell and director Lee Cronin for Evil Dead Rise.

In Evil Dead Rise, Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan star as two sisters who uncover the demonic Necronomicon in the bowels of an apartment building, unleashing the murderous Deadites unto the residents. While no tie-in to any previous franchise material is apparent yet, since Cronin's film will portray an original story, it will still retain many of the Evil Dead franchise's key elements. Namely, Evil Dead Rise will feature 6,500 liters of blood.
An Evil Dead Rise BTS set photo teases one of the film's bloody scenes. Cronin shared the preview on Twitter, which shows an apartment building hallway covered in blood spatter and dismembered limbs. Crew members line the hallway before a camera rig, with several holding brooms to clean up the fake blood. Cronin calls it a "particularly messy day" on the Evil Dead Rise set. Evil Dead Rise Captures The Horror Franchise's Appeal
This new BTS photo seems to be in line with other sneak peeks at the movie. Previous teases highlighted Evil Dead Rise's blood-curdling screams and high levels of gore without directly revealing any narrative context. However, Cronin's reveal is the best look yet at an actual scene from the film, revealing that somebody – or something – will be dismembered, most likely a Deadite or two. It also showcases the care that Evil Dead Rise takes to honor the bloody legacy of the franchise and make it look good with sharp cinematography.
The Evil Dead fans should find the BTS photo exciting since it adheres to the level of violence that the previous movies turned into a defining franchise feature. And with Raimi and Campbell working very closely with Cronin on the production, audiences can likely expect a faithful entry once Evil Dead Rise hits theaters. Twitter users speculate that the BTS photo could be a precursor to an Evil Dead Rise trailer, which may provide additional context for the hallway dismemberment scene.
