Mila Kunis has put to rest any rumors that she ever auditioned for the role of Lois Lane for Man of Steel. Back in 2011, the actor had been rumored to be short-listed for the iconic role of Clark Kent's love interest, along with household names such as Rachel McAdams and Olivia Wilde. Following all the speculation, it was ultimately Amy Adams who landed the role.

Directed by Zack Snyder, the movie was yet another try by the DC Universe to launch a successful feature about Clark Kent. Preceded by the failed 2006 Superman Returns film led by Brandon Routh, Man of Steel was expected to be the feature that would open doors to future movies in an extended DC Universe. The buzz surrounding this super production back in 2011 was at an all-time high and led to several casting rumors, including Kunis.

In a recent interview on Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast, Kunis finally debunked all those rumors from over ten years ago. When asked if she had ever auditioned for the iconic role of Lois Lane, Kunis replied with an emphatic no. Horowitz also joked that she would have probably looked tiny next to Henry Cavill. Check out her quote below:

"Never. Never screen-tested for it. Never. Didn't even know about it."

What ultimately happened with Superman: Man of Steel

In the end, it was Amy Adams, another powerhouse actor, who took the infamous Lois Lane part. While Snyder's Man of Steel received its fair share of criticism when it hit theaters, the feature was ultimately a box office success, earning a total of nearly 700 million dollars worldwide. The successful venture did open the doors for other big DC Universe movies, such as Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam!, all of which earned significant box office numbers.

While her performance as Lois Lane was received with mixed reactions from the audience, Adams proceeded to also give life to the intrepid reporter in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. Since Lois Lane is traditionally a brunette in most media, Kunis does have a closer look to the comic book character, which fueled rumors at the time. Despite not having ever entertained the possibility of playing Lois Lane in Man of Steel, Kunis continues to have a successful acting career and is reprising her That 70s Show role of Jackie Burkhart in Netflix new series That 90s Show.
