Nintendo fans are bracing to hear Chris Pratt's Mario voice in the new Super Mario Bros. trailer. The upcoming trailer will be released on October 6th, with the movie set to release on April 7th, 2023. Many well-known actors are voicing these beloved Nintendo characters in this film, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Jack Black as Bowser, and Anya Taylor Joy as Princess Peach. This animated film will be the third Mario movie ever released, following the 1986 anime Super Mario Bros.: The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach! and the 1993 live-action Super Mario Bros.

Given the poor reception of the 1993 live-action Mario film, Nintendo was hesitant to try making another Mario-based film. But as Nintendo began to work closely with Universal to develop the Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios, they were introduced to Universal Studios film creators, specifically within Illuminations – the animation studio owned by Universal. Nintendo partnered with both of these studios, and in 2018 Nintendo announced its plans to create a new Mario film, with production starting in 2020.
As the trailer is set to be released very soon, fans have turned to social media to joke about what Chris Pratt's Mario voice will sound like in an assortment of tweets. Most of the jokes are targeted at whether Pratt will sport a bad Italian accent or if the character will look like Chris Pratt himself. See a sample of fan reactions below:
Chris Pratt's Mario Voice Will Be Revealed In Super Mario Bros. Movie Trailer
Until now, fans have not heard what Mario will sound like in Super Mario Bros. Many fans are concerned that the voice acting will not be up to par with Mario from the games or will even be Pratt doing a bad Italian accent for the duration of the film. While Pratt has voiced-acted before in Disney Pixar's Onward, this is his first time taking on such a distinctive character, making many fans worried about how he will sound.
Given the history of Mario movies, fans are hopeful that Super Mario Bros. will not fall short of the curve. As Nintendo is partnering with Illuminations and has a lot of well-known names tied to the film, there is hope that fan reception will be primarily positive, as long as Pratt can maintain a good voice throughout the movie. When the movie trailer is released, there is no doubt that fans will have a lot to say about the voice of Mario and Pratt's performance.
