To mark NYCxDESIGN and ICFF, the Moooi New York store is hosting a video game-inspired pop-up installation by Crosby Studios. Dutch brand Moooi gave Crosby Studios founder Harry Nuriev a free pass to dream up a Moooi environment. The result is Moooi Through the Eyes of Crosby Studios, a pink, pixelated vignette reminiscent of the early days of video games. Starting today, the installation will be on view at the Moooi New York Brand Store on 36 East 31st Street.
Moooi Through the Eyes of Crosby Studios consists of the Sofa So Good three-seater + footstool by the brand’s founder, Marcel Wanders, along with pillows and rugs. The sofa and footstool are decked out in a custom velvet featuring a pixelated print, which is the same print being used on 100 velvet pillows. In addition to the fun, pink pillows, one-of-a-kind Moooi Carpets round out the pixel-filled installation.
The pixelated design came about from the studio’s upcoming interior design mobile game – Crosby Studios Video Game – launching later this year on The Sandbox. While giving nod to the bitmap look from those early video games, the new game reimagines classic designs from Crosby Studios by inviting users to design as they go. That same low tech aesthetic can now be found on Moooi’s designs, which feature a bold magenta colorway.
To check out the Moooi Through the Eyes of Crosby Studios pop-up installation in person, visit the Moooi New York Brand Studio at 36 East 31st Street in New York City.
