The decision to not include Max, Dani, and Allison in Hocus Pocus 2 is a mistake, but it's not too late to fix it. Hocus Pocus 2 is the much-anticipated sequel to Disney's 1993 Hocus Pocus. Both films follow children who accidentally bring 17th-century witches the Sanderson Sisters back to life.

The main children of Hocus Pocus are Max, Dani, and Allison. Max and Dani are siblings who recently moved to Salem. Max is having trouble fitting in and has a crush on Allison. Allison ends up taking Max and Dani to the old Sanderson Sister house on Halloween night. Max lights the Black Flame Candle, which brings the Sandersons back to life. After a night of hijinks, the kids manage to banish the witches before they can kill the children of Salem for their youth spell.

Max, Dani, and Allison are notably absent from Hocus Pocus 2 while friends Becca, Izzy, and Cassie try to defeat the Sandersons. The original trio aren't even mentioned, even though Gilbert summarizes the history of the Sanderson Sisters and clips from Hocus Pocus are used as flashbacks. Max, Dani, and Allison were the heart of the original film, and it seems wrong to exclude them from the sequel when they could have appeared as adults. It's not too late to fix this mistake, however, and bring Max, Dani, and Allison back in the possible Hocus Pocus 3.

How Max, Dani & Allison Can Appear In Hocus Pocus 3

Only two of Becca, Izzy, and Cassie's parents are mentioned by name in Hocus Pocus 2: Mayor Traske, Cassie's father portrayed by Tony Hale, and Susan, Izzy's unseen mother. It's possible Max, Dani, and Allison could still be one of the other unseen, unnamed parents in a Hocus Pocus 3 story where the two trios team up. The original trio is all white, while Becca and Izzy are women of color, but they could easily be mixed race if Max is their dad or Allison is their mom.

That would mean Max and Allison didn't "end up together," which could be sad for fans of the original. If Disney wanted to keep them as a couple, they could appear as other adults in Becca, Izzy, and Cassie's lives, teachers being the most obvious option. Max and Allison's child could also be introduced as a new main character of Hocus Pocus 3. Dani could have married and had a child, could have a romance with Sam Richardson's Gilbert, or could be a single witch-hunter.

The ending of Hocus Pocus 2 implies there will be another film, with the Sanderson Sisters possibly returning and the Mother Witch still out there. Hocus Pocus 3 hasn't been confirmed but if it does happen, Max, Dani, and Allison need to appear. At the very least, a third film must acknowledge their importance to Hocus Pocus and confirm they did get a happily ever after.
