Originally conceived of by Reeves, the character of B shares similarities to a few of the actor's past roles, most notably the assassin John Wick, as well as being modeled after Reeves in appearance. After seeing a resurgence in popularity with 2014's John Wick, which has spawned an enviable franchise, Reeves' move to a new creative medium allowed fans to see a different side of the star. On March 22nd, Netflix announced that a live-action film and anime adaptation, both starring Reeves, would be created based on BRZRKR. Reeves will reportedly be heavily involved in bringing the comic books to life.

The writer had previously shared a script update in June along with sharing his excitement, saying that he was "unhinged and deranged that [he's] been allowed to write this movie." What To Expect From Keanu Reeves' BRZRKR Movie

BRZRKR Variant Cover Bermejo

With its hyper-violent approach to action and retro stylings, the BRZRKR comics are perfectly in line with Reeves' current brand of action movies. As such, viewers can expect a bloody, definitely R-rated film with a Netflix-level production value, featuring Reeves as its grizzled and jaded star. Though B will definitely be among the most tragic and morally gray figures Reeves has played, there is definitely competition in the actor's catalog, indicating his penchant for playing characters like the BRZRKR anti-hero. Since this is such a passion project for Reeves, giving fans of his a deeper look into his imagination, his performance may go beyond what many have come to expect from the massively successful John Wick films. One thing is certain: action lovers will discover a new epic and unyielding fighter to root for when BRZRKR debuts.

Tomlin's update didn't offer any sense of a timeline for BRZRKR's release, but with the script complete, more casting and production news will hopefully follow. With Reeves' impressive reputation in the industry and Tomlin's talents attached, Netflix could be on its way to breaking into major franchise territory, something they are also working to develop with The Witcher. While Reeves' fans wait for more news about BRZRKR, they can look forward to seeing him return as John Wick for the fourth installment in the assassin-led series in March 2023.
