A new set photo from The Flash movie is teasing the DC hero's upgraded suit. The film, directed by Andy Muschietti and based on the popular comics character of the same name, will serve as Barry Allen's first solo project within the DC Extended Universe, and the thirteenth entry in the media franchise overall. After substantial delays brought on by multiple crew changes, the COVID-19 pandemic, and post-production concerns, its projected release date has shifted from as early as 2018 to June 23, 2023. Partly inspired by the Flashpoint narrative, the movie will follow the unintentional altering of Allen's timeline as he travels back in time to prevent the murder of his mother.

Ezra Miller will star as Barry Allen, first introduced in the DCEU in 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, with Ron Livingston, Michael Keaton, Kiersey Clemons, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, and Sasha Calle rounding out the film's cast. Controversy surrounding Miller began affecting the project earlier this year, with Warner Bros. Discovery contemplating different release options, as well as a possible recasting for future movies. However, there is still some excitement among fans, particularly those interested in seeing the continuation of the SnyderVerse characters, and positive reactions towards test screenings and previous images of The Flash's costume contributed to a sense of optimism.

What The Flash's DCEU Future Could Hold
In addition to the preserved sense of anticipation among some fans, Miller released a public apology in August, which resulted in Warner Bros. Discovery committing to the film's theatrical debut, although the star may not be guaranteed to continue playing Barry Allen in future projects. The Flash was also allegedly meant to serve as a reset for the entire DCEU, with the intention that it would wrap up anything left behind by the SnyderVerse and allow the brand to build out its shared universe. With The Flash no longer sitting at the end of the studio's release slate, whether Miller reprises their role beyond this movie or DC Films decides to take the character's story in a different direction remains unknown.
Given the amount of money spent on making The Flash, it will be interesting to see how the film performs at the box office and if the support from fans changes at all in the time leading up to its release. With so much discourse surrounding the production and its re-shoots, audiences are probably wanting to know what everything looks like.
