L.A. based DJ and producer Kaysin is a name well-known among industry heads and brewing in tech house circles. His own tracks have charted Top 10 on Beatport with signings on Sink or Swim, Night Service Only, and Incorrect, to name a few. Kaysin is also becoming known for his collaboration and remix prowess, having worked with artists such as John Summit and Dillon Nathaniel.

Now, he’s making his debut on prestigious label, Thrive Music, with a rumbling tech house single, “Keep Me Waiting”. Kaysin’s talent in the studio shines, blending a soulful vocal, intricate piano stabs with a infectious tech house groove and a shuffle-ready bassline. Kaysin captures an uplifting spirit in “Keep Me Waiting” that couldn’t be a better fit for the summer festivals or club circuit.
“I’m extremely excited to finally get Keep Me Waiting out into the world. I made this track to be a club weapon and it’s worked really well at all of my gigs so far. I’m a big fan of long, melodic breakdowns, so I decided to explore a piano driven breakdown that concludes in a massive drop. I’m a big fan of the releases that Thrive has been putting out lately and I’m extremely excited to debut this single with them.

Was it a sudden moment where you knew you wanted to pursue a DJ/producer career or was it more a gradual process that led to you shifting your efforts in this direction?
I would say it was more of a gradual shift in that direction. I started dabbling in music production and DJing in college, and it slowly turned from a hobby to a passion, and ultimately career. When I graduated college I decided that I should just go for it and see what happens – and I haven’t looked back since!
What is the message you hope people take away from “Keep Me Waiting?”
I’m not sure if their is a specific message I want people to take away to be honest. I wanted to make something that was energetic and fast paced, but also had melodic elements that were memorable. This was my first time doing any sort of a piano house type of breakdown and I loved it, so I’ll probably aim to do that again in future productions. I love exploring new ideas and concepts when I make music, and this song gave me a great opportunity to do just that.
How did the idea for the song originate?
The song started how most of my songs start – as a drum loop with a kick & bassline. From there it grew and I added some leads and the piano house style breakdown. The vocal was actually one of the last elements I added – I knew it needed a vocal, and I spent a ton of time searching and searching until I found something that worked really well with the rest of the elements.
How do you like to start your day when you know you’ll be making music that day?
Honestly I make music basically every day, so I don’t think i really start it any differently on days where I’m going to make music. My days usually start with breakfast and a lot of coffee, and I like to listen to other peoples music to get inspired before I work on my own music.
How has the experience been working with Thrive?
It’s been great! I really love the music that they’ve been putting out, so a major goal for me in 2022 was to release a record with them. I’m really happy that we were able to make that happen! Shout out to the Thrive team.
What is your favorite part of what you do with the Kaysin experience? Playing shows, making music – perhaps something else?
That’s difficult – I would say making music and playing shows are my favorite for different reasons. Making music is extremely fun and allows me to fully tap in to my creative side. Playing shows is thrilling and gives me a rush like nothing else does. I love it!
What are you most excited about when it comes to the future?
I’m excited to continue making music and exploring new ideas & concepts in the studio. I’m also excited to keep touring around the country and elsewhere in the world. Playing in new cities and at new clubs is so much fun, and I look forward to doing it more and more over the rest of the year and into the next!
