Deadpool and Wolverine's dynamic in the MCU's Deadpool 3 is imagined in a brand-new piece of Marvel fan art. After Disney acquired Fox's TV and movie assets, the rights to the X-Men and all their tie-in characters automatically reverted to Marvel Studios. Since then, fans have been keeping an eye on when the mutants, particularly the most notable ones, will be making an appearance in the MCU.
While Marvel Studios continues to be mum about the future of X-Men as a group in the franchise, they have already confirmed that they are essentially bringing in Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool franchise. Deadpool 3 will be the first R-rated movie in the MCU, and Shawn Levy has been confirmed as the director of the threequel, which has been in development for quite a while now. Plot specifics for the film are still scant at the moment, but it just received a major update after Reynolds confirmed that Hugh Jackman returns as Wolverine in Deadpool 3.

Jackman's impending MCU debut as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 inspired digital artist Bosslogic to imagine what his dynamic would be with Wade Wilson. As expected, it isn't cordial between the two, with the Canadian mutant going as far as using his Adamantium claws on the Merc with a Mouth. Check out the image below:

How Wolverine Can Join The MCU After His Logan Death
As a reminder, Jackman's Wolverine already died in James Mangold's Logan in 2017. The film was supposed to be the send-off project for both the Adamantium-wielding mutant and Patrick Stewart's Professor X. For a while, both actors were adamant that they were done playing their respective Marvel roles, despite the clamor from fans ever since Marvel Studios acquired the rights to the X-Men. But, as with how Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was able to bring back Charles Xavier, Deadpool 3 could use the multiverse as a way to bring back Jackman's Wolverine without retconning his death in Logan. The threequel could see Wilson traveling through time and between realities until he ends up in the X-Men movie timeline at a point where Wolverine is still alive.
The question now is if Jackman's return as Wolverine is a one-time thing, or if he's open to reprising the role elsewhere in the MCU. For years, the actor was clear that he had no interest in revisiting his breakout role. But between his great relationship with Reynolds and fans' interest in seeing him in the MCU with Deadpool, it makes sense that he comes out of retirement just for Deadpool 3, slated for a September 2024 release. Beyond that, expect that Marvel Studios will be casting their primary version of the fan-favorite mutant — one who would be prominently featured in the MCU moving forward.
