Batgirl star Leslie Grace shares a behind-the-scenes video of the Firefly fights from the scrapped DC movie. Barbara Gordon was close to making her big DCEU debut next year, with Grace bringing the iconic heroine to life. While HBO Max's Batgirl movie had wrapped principal photography, Warner Bros. Discovery shocked the entertainment industry by deciding to cancel the film altogether. The project, which was helmed by Ms. Marvel directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, was in post-production by the time Warner Bros. Discovery scrapped the movie.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The Batgirl movie would have told Barbara's origin story as she becomes Gotham City's newest protector. The film was also set to take place after the events of The Flash movie, which would set up Michael Keaton's Batman as the new Caped Crusader in the DCEU in Barbara's film. Serving as the film's antagonist, Batgirl would have fought Firefly, played by The Whale star Brendan Fraser. However, due to Warner Bros. Discovery axing Batgirl as a tax write-down, the world will never see the movie in its entirety. Despite Warner Bros. Discovery having the film locked away, it hasn't stopped various Batgirl cast and crew members from sharing the bits and pieces they managed to save from their shooting experience.

Grace recently shared on her TikTok page a BTS video featuring the actress doing stunt rehearsal for her fight with Firefly. The footage also included brief glimpses of Batgirl and Firefly having one of their showdowns. Check out Grace's full video below.

Batgirl & Firefly Would've Fought Multiple Times

Based on this latest BTS video, as well as set images that came out during principal photography, Batgirl and Firefly would have fought a number of times in the film. It wouldn't be surprising if the plot would have had Batgirl actually lose to Firefly in their first fight during her early nights as a crime fighter. This would have worked perfectly with the Batgirl origin story aspect of the film, where most heroes may fail on their first try when they have just started their journey as a superhero. Whether or not Firefly was the only villain in Batgirl is unclear at this point.

While Firefly has been featured in live-action TV previously, Batgirl would have been the first major DC movie to include the infamous Batman villain. Since Grace and other Batgirl members have shared BTS videos and photos from the film, this is likely not the last time the public will get to see other aspects of the movie in some regard. Even though the movie won't be released, there is still a chance Warner Bros. may use Grace's Batgirl in a future DCEU movie. Hopefully, following the Batgirl cancellation, audiences will get to see Grace suit up as the beloved heroine in the DCEU in the coming years.
