While his future in the DC Extended Universe remains largely unknown, Henry Cavill is imagined as Captain Britain in stunning Marvel Cinematic Universe fan art. Cavill is most well-known for his portrayal of Clark Kent/Superman in the DCEU, in such films as Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and both the 2017 and 2021 versions of Justice League. Cavill is currently starring in the Netflix series The Witcher as Geralt of Rivia, and the upcoming Enola Holmes 2 as Sherlock Holmes.

With Cavill having been a major player in the DCEU, there have been rumors circulating that Cavill might be breaking into the MCU as well. Word has swirled further in the past few months that Cavill is reportedly in talks with Marvel to join the MCU, on top of fans petitioning to see him bring some major heroes to life, including Wolverine, Cyclops, Union Jack, and Hyperion. As the MCU continues to expand, by bringing in previously Sony-owned properties and beginning a new phase of superheros post-Infinity Saga, audiences are wondering whether Cavill will star as a brand-new MCU character, or if he'll be taking on the masked mantle from another actor.

Who Could Henry Cavill Play In The MCU?

Though Captain Britain hasn't been in the MCU, Hayley Atwell's Captain Carter was utilized to help introduce the Illuminati to the franchise in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness alongside Lashana Lynch's Captain Marvel, John Krasinski's Mr. Fantastic, Anson Mount's Black Bolt and Patrick Stewart's Professor X. While Carter wasn't a member of the Illuminati in the comics, Captain Britain was, making the group's introduction in the MCU sequel a potential way to open the door to other forms of the Illuminati existing in alternate dimensions. Additionally, with Cavill having previously expressed his interest in bringing Captain Britain to the MCU, joking that he "loves being British" and feeling a modernized version of the hero would be "loads of fun," one may find the new fan art an interesting tease of what he could bring to the role.

Though Cavill's reported talks with Marvel could change his mind, the Superman actor's desire to play a character that is new to the MCU may narrow his potential roles down a little. Even if the Illuminati don't serve as a setup for Captain Britain's introduction, the recent teases of the Secret Avengers and Hellfire Club could bring the character into the fold. In the meantime, audiences will have to wait and keep their eyes peeled for who Cavill may ultimately play in the MCU as The Multiverse Saga forges ahead.
