Netflix officially releases a new look at one of their most anticipated 2022 films by sharing the first Enola Holmes 2 trailer. After several years when Benedict Cumberbatch and Robert Downey Jr. were busy playing versions of Sherlock Holmes, Netflix launched a potential franchise revolving around the detective's sister, Enola Holmes. Enola Holmes debuted in 2020 on the streaming service and introduced audiences to Millie Bobby Brown's portrayal of the young detective. The cast also included Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes, Sam Claflin as Mycroft Holmes, and Helena Bonham Carter as their aunt Eudoria.

Enola Holmes became a huge hit for Netflix (after acquiring the title from Warner Bros. due to COVID-19) thanks to Millie Bobby Brown's involvement and the great reviews. At the time, it had one of Netflix's top 10 biggest debuts, meaning that it did not take long for Enola Holmes 2 to enter development. Although story details have still been kept under wraps, Netflix has recently started promoting Enola Holmes 2 by sharing various images of Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill, and Helena Bonham Carter's returns.

Now, Netflix has provided another major update on the sequel by sharing the first Enola Holmes 2 trailer. The footage highlights Brown's return as Enola Holmes and teases the new case that she embarks on. However, this time it means teaming up with Cavill's Sherlock. Check out the Enola Holmes 2 trailer below:

Enola Holmes 2 Trailer Teases Much More Of Henry Cavill's Sherlock

One of the biggest takeaways from the Enola Holmes 2 trailer is what looks to be a much bigger role for Cavill's Sherlock. The movie will still be told from Enola Holmes' perspective and primarily follow her life as an up-and-coming detective. The first film featured a surprisingly small part for Sherlock as a means to try and not overshadow Enola's abilities. This disappointed some viewers who wanted to see a lot more of Cavill's Sherlock Holmes. The Enola Holmes 2 trailer teases that will not be an issue for the sequel, as the footage ends with an indication that the Holmes siblings will work together once their cases overlap.

In part due to the larger role for Cavill's Sherlock in Enola Holmes 2, the trailer looks to be a good sign that Netflix has another fun installment in this franchise on the horizon. The fourth wall breaking from Enola Holmes is still present, while there is plenty of comedy and action featured in the footage. Enola Holmes 2 looks like it could be a repeat success for Netflix, which is quite miraculous considering the streaming service only got the first movie due to COVID and Warner Bros. not being able to release it in theaters. Now it seems that Enola Holmes 2 will be another fun adventure headlined by Brown and Cavill as they continue to dominate Netflix's original programming.
