book for christmas gift

Christmas is coming and thanks to the supply chain issues this year’s gifts could be in danger, so we need to think a little bit ahead to secure the gifts to our loved ones. We tried to help a little bit, by digging up the some beautiful books to give as gifts.

We tried to select books from as many genres as possible, for both young and older readers, for romance and historical fiction lovers and even some quality non-fiction books for serious readers. Here are some engaging titles for small ones and of course for real bookworms.

How to Catch a Mermaid, by Adam Wallace (2018)

For Children (Engaging Children’s Picture Book)

How to Catch a Mermaid is a fun and interactive children’s story that will have kids laughing and learning with each turn of the page. This story teaches kids about the importance of being creative and how to be a good friend. I would recommend this book to any parent looking for an entertaining book for their child.

Little Tim and the Magic Apples, by Hillie Jeffery (2021)

For Early Readers (Lovely Children’s Picture Book)

This book is ideal for children to learn about the power of friendship. It’s also great for children to learn about sharing, kindness, and other positive attributes. This book is filled with rhyming words which makes it easy to read aloud to children. This book does an excellent job of explaining these positive concepts to children in a way that is easy to understand.

The Fourteenth Goldfish, by Jennifer L. Holm (2014)

For Middle Grade Readers (Children’s Family Fiction)

Ellie is your average teen trying to survive middle school. All of her friends seem too absorbed in finding like-minded crowds to hang out with, while she tries her best to fit in on her own. She’s not sure what she likes or who she wants to be when she grows up but every day is more challenging than the last. Despite the opportunities, Ellie would rather enjoy her normal childhood activities like watching TV or playing video games instead of helping him create his latest invention. As time goes on however, Ellie doesn’t know whether she should continue neglecting Grandpa Melvin’s presence in her life or take more interest in helping him invent things that will positively affect her own life. She just hopes that none of his experiments go too wrong because they may’ve gone so far this time.

The Fourteenth Goldfish is a book that is appropriate for both young adults and middle grade readers. The story is sad, funny, happy, and just a bit weird. It is a great book for middle grade readers because it shows that even though you might be a kid you can still have a lot to worry about, but you can also have a lot of fun.

Legend of the Star Runner, by J. I. Wagner (2018)

For Middle Grade Readers (Children’s Mystery Fiction)

This mystery book includes up to 30 mysteries, that could be solved by the reader. The story is exciting, like a cross between Indiana Jones and The Goonies. In addition to being a captivating adventure for kids, it also has tons of fun puzzles featuring strange underground characters. You can read one chapter a day but based on our experiences you will read over 10 chapters in a row! The variety of artwork and the pictures that follow every chapter combine nicely with the easy to read sentence structure and vocabulary at a level that turned out very appropriate for a 8-year old boy.

For the Lovers of Suspense (Heist Thriller)

A flight attendant with a troubled past, Claire Cook is living the life of her dreams—a staff of ten at her beck and call, an Upper East Side townhouse, and a perfect husband. But behind closed doors nothing is as it seems. That perfect husband has a temper that burns bright and he’s not above using his staff to track Claire’s every move.

The Chaos Kind, by Barry Eisler (2021)

For Crime Thriller Lovers (Revenge Thriller)

The Chaos Kind by J.M. Perkins is a non-stop thrill ride that keeps you guessing. With lots of twists and turns, this book will keep you on the edge of your seat. John Rain, Livia Lone, and The Librarian are all characters that will keep you intrigued. The writing is well done and much more detailed than many books I have read lately.

I highly recommend this novel for anyone who enjoys suspense, intrigue, spy thrillers and books that are full of actions.

Project Hail Mary, by Andy Weir (2021)

For the Lovers of Epic Space Stories (Science fiction)

The Earth was dying. Years of environmental damage had rendered it uninhabitable. The only hope for humanity was to find another world, one capable of sustaining life. Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission—and if he fails, humanity and the earth itself will perish.

Project Hail Mary is a science fiction novel that blends the best of page-turning military sci-fi with an epic, mind-bending mystery. I would definitely recommend this book as gift for sci-fi lovers.

This is a really good book for anyone who wants to understand the Chinese experience in America. Beautifully written story of an immigrant girl’s struggles in America. Think Again: The Power of Knowing What You Don’t Know, Adam Grant (2021)

For Big Thinkers (Pop Psychology)

This book was so good I read it twice. The first time I read it I thought I had learned a lot, but realized that I had cached only the fancy stuff. The second time around I was far more aware of the author’s thinking and finally managed to get the essence. This book is not about how to learn, but rather about how to unlearn, and that is the hardest lesson of all. Knowledge is easy. Knowledge is disposable. Wisdom is not. This book is about wisdom.

Conclusion

These are some beautiful books to gift this Christmas that we met in recent years, that could be a perfect gift to our beloved relatives. No matter what their favorite genre is, you will find the perfect fit in this list.
