A new episode of Screen Junkies' Honest Trailers pokes fun at Baz Luhrmann's Elvis. Starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks, the biopic on the King of rock and roll became one of the highest-grossing movies of the year, accumulating over $285 million worldwide. It also became the second highest-grossing musical biopic of all time, behind 2018's Bohemian Rhapsody. The movie was well-received by critics, who mostly praised Butler's star-making performance as Elvis Presley and Luhrmann's unique visual style.

Now, Screen Junkies has released an Honest Trailer for the movie. Almost as soon as it begins, the narrator pokes fun at Luhrmann's fast-paced style, by saying that the movie contains over twenty music videos. It also takes a jab at Hanks' turn as Colonel Parker, comparing him to a discount version of Colin Farrell's Penguin in Matt Reeves' The Batman. Check out the full honest trailer below:

While the episode does poke fun at Luhrmann's overtly stylistic approach to movie making, it also doesn't deny the fact that it's part of the fun of watching a movie like this. Elvis doesn't necessarily try to be a historically accurate depiction of the artist's life, but a version of it imagined by Baz Luhrmann. It may be the reason why Screen Junkies renamed the movie Baz ft. The Music of Elvis. It certainly is one of Lurhmann's most unique movies and is part of why the film has become one of the year's highest-grossing motion pictures.
