Screen Rant is excited to premiere a piece from the soundtrack of The Enforcer, which releases in full tomorrow, September 23. The film was written by W. Peter Iliff, directed by Richard Hughes, and stars Antonio Banderas as Cuda, Miami's top mob enforcer who must sacrifice his reputation and risk his life to protect a young runaway. Although The Enforcer is the first feature film by director Richard Hughes, W. Peter Iliff is known for his work on a number of 1990s hits including the original Point Break film, Patriot Games, and Varsity Blues.

The score for The Enforcer's score was written by Italian composer Giorgio Giampà, and marks Giampà's first collaboration with Hughes. Giampà has scored films, television series, and documentaries from filmmakers all over the world, and has been nominated for a number of high-profile awards including a Fenix Award (the Latin American Oscars) and an Italian Golden Globe. Giampà even won the Best Score award at Canneseries 2021 for his work on the TV series Christian. Remarkably, Giampà composed much of his score for The Enforcer while in the jungles of Guatemala, where he was simultaneously working on a reforestation project. The score was also written in just six weeks, which is a notable and impressive achievement.

Screen Rant's exclusive premiere of "Cuda Says Bye" offers listeners a taste of The Enforcer's musical landscape. "Cuda Says Bye" is a haunting piece that showcases Giorgio Giampà's use of distorted synthesizers and bass, which are consistent elements of the entire film score. Listen to it below:

Giampà, a self-proclaimed pacifist, has described the need for The Enforcer's score to lean heavily into themes of violence. To achieve that, Giampà created minimalist cues that he describes as "rude" and largely relentless. "Cuda Says Bye" is an exciting component of the film's score, as it showcases the composer's ability to create an emotionally full soundscape with few elements.

Antonio Banderas as Cuda in The Enforcer

Although Giorgio Giampà is no stranger to using synthesizers and manipulated audio, "Cuda Says Bye" points to an edgier side of the composer's work. As many of Giampà's other compositions, such as his work on Il Cacciatore and Christian, feature lush string and intricate piano pieces, "Cuda Says Bye" is a testament to the scope of the talented composer's ability and a good introduction to his work.
