A collaboration with Italian brands Cassina and Venini helped all of the pieces come together to bring Bethan Laura Wood’s Colourdisc art project to life. The English designer has created a duo of vases, a fruit bowl and a cylindrical flower vase produced by Venini, maker of handmade blown Murano glass. Wood’s color compositions of discs and diamond shapes are brought alive through cast metal forms, then placed around a brass volume and secured with two brass pins. Each glass disc and diamond shape uses two colors from Venini’s archive, and when they overlap a third vibrant color emerges – not to mention a gorgeous kaleidoscopic effect when touched by light! Add even more color to a vessel by opting for an amber or horizon blue blown glass vase.
