This month’s Designer Desktop instantly puts us in a zen mood. Designed in collaboration between Walnut Wallpaper, a Los Angeles-based wallpaper showroom, and New Zealand-based artist, Emma Hayes, the LA Colorscapes wallpaper collection is inspired by Emma’s trip to LA where she was struck by all the color gradients of the landscapes and seascapes.
Emma also realized that LA and New Zealand are also only separated by the Pacific Ocean, and made a nod to that fact with brushstrokes that evoke waves and white caps in the Seascape murals. For the Desertscape murals, the brushstrokes represent haze or a mirage of colors.
For November’s desktops, Emma is sharing both a Desertscape and Seascape version paired with a fitting quote by Edward Hopper that alludes to her career as an artist: “If I could say it in words, there would be no reason to paint.”
