While audiences eagerly await the next installment in the animated franchise, Batman has gotten his very own Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse style crossover in epic DC fan art. The 2018 animated film explored the origin story of Miles Morales as he is bitten by a radioactive spider and gains spider-like abilities, and is thrust into the superhero world when Kingpin opens the door to parallel universes, bringing in other Spider-People. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse scored rave reviews from critics and audiences alike, netting both an Oscar and Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature, and earning a two-sequel order from Sony.

Batman has enjoyed a range of depictions on screen in the 80-plus years since he made his DC Comics debut, from the campier Adam West TV show and Joel Schumacher-helmed movies to the more grounded Dark Knight trilogy from Christopher Nolan. After getting a taste of interconnected universes with Ben Affleck's Batman in the DC Extended Universe, the Gotham City vigilante would get another lease at the solo life with Robert Pattinson's The Batman, which scored general acclaim and was a box office smash. With both Affleck and Pattinson's iterations having future plans, one fan has an idea of how they all could work together on the big screen.
Artist Lyle Cruse recently took to Instagram to share a special form of DC fan art blending Batman with the world of Marvel. The art gives Batman his own Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse style crossover, borrowing the character models from Sony's animated film to imagine variants of Batman and Robin teaming up to take down a variety of foes, including Deathstroke, Bane and Poison Ivy. The idea of an animated crossover between multiple Batman portrayals is sure to prove an intriguing one for fans of the DC character, namely if it took a similar approach to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, as seen in the DC fan art. Sony's film scored widespread acclaim for its ability to blend its drastically different Spider-People into one consistent story. With Batman already having gotten the animated comedy treatment with the similarly acclaimed The Lego Batman Movie, it wouldn't be entirely difficult for audiences to accept such a story from The Dark Knight.
Though a Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse style crossover may prove unlikely for Batman, audiences are getting treated to a different kind of multiverse team-up in the near future. The DCEU's Flash movie is said to include both Affleck and Michael Keaton's Batmen working with Ezra Miller's titular hero, though the scrapping of the Batgirl movie and Affleck's apparent appearance in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has left some in doubt about the franchise's future plans for its Batman. Only time will tell when The Flash hits theaters on June 23, 2023.
