A new trailer for Halloween Ends teases the one way to kill Michael Myers once and for all. John Carpenter's 1978 Halloween spawned a franchise that continues to this day and Myers is now one of the most iconic horror movie villains of all time. In 2018, filmmaker David Gordon Green rebooted the long-running franchise, with his film, again simply titled Halloween, earning positive reviews from fans and critics alike. After last fall's Halloween Kills, Green's reboot trilogy is now set to conclude with Halloween Ends.

In addition to Myers, Green's rebooted take on Halloween also brought back Jamie Lee Curtis' Laurie Strode, widely considered one of the best "final girls" in the history of horror. Although more of a supporting character in 2018's Halloween, Halloween Kills sees the character back in action in the fight against Myers as he continues to terrorize the residents of Haddonfield. The first trailer for Halloween Ends teases that the upcoming film will be all about the final battle between Strode and Myers, with the former out for blood after the brutal murder of her daughter, Karen (Judy Greer). Although an angry mob failed to kill Myers in Halloween Kills, a new trailer for the upcoming film teases that there might be a way to finish him off for good.
In a new TV spot, shared on Twitter by @HalloweenFan96, it's suggested that the only way to kill Myers might be for Strode to die as well. Over footage of Myers claiming new unsuspecting victims, Strode solemnly declares that "this time, maybe the only way he can die is if I die, too." The short trailer ends by showing off more of a brutal kitchen fight featured in the original trailer, with Strode then attempting to plunge a knife into Myers' chest. Myers has now terrorized people across 12 Halloween movies and has taken a lot of punishment in the process, but he's never actually died. Even if Halloween Ends is only the end to Strode's story and not the end of the franchise in general, the film has a unique opportunity to actually kill Myers for the first time. Although Strode doesn't expand on why she might have to die in order for Myers to also die, the comment does suggest that there may be some sort of otherworldly force at work that binds the two of them together.
The notion that there could be some sort of supernatural aspect to Myers isn't a new idea, especially considering just how unstoppable he is across all of the Halloween movies. With Myers often described as evil incarnate, there is a mythological element to the villain already, which could lend itself well to the idea that Strode's life and his are somehow linked. While many fans would surely be disappointed to see Strode die in Halloween Ends, the idea that there may finally be a way to kill Myers for good is also an exciting proposition.
