Tobey Maguire's emo Spider-Man in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 was the only redeeming part of the lackluster film, but it almost didn't make it on screen. The third installment of the Sam Raimi trilogy was all over the place by including too many subplots and villains in its story. It's not the ending audiences wished to see for the beloved trilogy, but Maguire's jazzy interpretation of his character's infamous alter-ego was one of the more memorable aspects of the movie.

Once the wheels started to turn, they discussed where Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man would be and what he would be doing in this scenario, and then the idea of the montage came into play. Raimi and the writers made the right move by incorporating that character arc into the film because otherwise there wouldn't have been many memorable things about the film.
