Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam narrowly defeats Henry Cavill's Superman in a stunning new piece of DC Extended Universe fan art. Johnson's highly anticipated debut as the titular anti-hero will see him team up with the Justice Society of America, comprised of Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), and Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan). In the comics, Black Adam is usually painted as one of Shazam's main enemies, but Zachary Levi will not be appearing in the movie as the famous superhero.

While the movie will contain an appearance from Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, which confirms its place in the DCEU and could signal a bigger future for the JSA and Black Adam, other DC-related characters, namely Superman, are not set to appear in the movie. This was confirmed by the director himself, Jaume Collet-Serra, at San Diego Comic-Con, with the Jungle Cruise filmmaker having confirmed that the titular character does not know who the Man of Steel (or Shazam) is and that the film will be an origin story. Despite this, some audiences are still eager to see Johnson's Black Adam take on other DCEU heroes.
Internet artist Yadvender Singh Rana shared a piece of fan art on Instagram which sees Black Adam kill Henry Cavill's Superman. In that image, Singh Rana directly references Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, where Superman snapped General Zod's (Michael Shannon) neck, with Black Adam now being the one to snap Superman's neck, while also referencing one of the hero's weaknesses from magic. It's no surprise that fans want Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam to fight off Henry Cavill's Superman in an eventual DCEU movie crossover. However, plans for Cavill's return as the Man of Steel are still in doubt. While the character of Superman recently appeared in Peacemaker, he was played by a body double, and his face was hidden in the shadows. The same thing happened in Shazam!, the character appeared through a headless cameo. This has fueled speculation that Cavill will not be coming back to the DCEU, but nothing has been concretely confirmed as of yet by the actor, with him inversely expressing his hopes to don the red cape again.
Still, it's exciting to see what could happen should Cavill and Johnson return in the future. While it's still unclear to what direction the DCEU will take after Warner Bros Discovery axed multiple projects, including the already completed Batgirl, the thought of Superman and Black Adam facing off would certainly be an interesting direction for the franchise to take. The latest piece of DCEU fan art would tease another dark chapter in the series, should it come to fruition, as the hierarchy of power in the franchise is said to change when Black Adam releases in theaters on October 21.
