Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot wants to see a crossover between Warner Bros. Discovery's DCEU and Walt Disney Studios' MCU. Over the last two decades, the superhero and comic book genre has exploded and become a massive mainstream media brand both on the big and small screen. In 2008, Marvel Studios launched the MCU, starting with Iron Man, featuring Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark. Marvel Studios' first film became the beginning of what would become the most extensive and most successful interconnected superhero universe in live-action.

While it has faced its ups and downs, Warner Bros. managed to get its cinematic universe off the ground for the DC IPs in 2013 with Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. Despite fleshing out the franchise with Justice League characters, the Suicide Squad, and more, the DCEU still hasn't reached the same level as the MCU. Despite some setbacks, one of the current series still in the future in the DCEU is Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman franchise, with another sequel being developed. Despite being rival companies, there has always been the idea of maybe seeing a crossover between the MCU and DCEU at some point.

Even though Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery have not shown any interest in wanting to make it happen, Wonder Woman herself is down to cross paths with the MCU. During this year's D23 Expo, Gadot, who was there to promote the live-action Snow White remake, was asked by Access if she would ever be down to appear as a Marvel hero despite her current DC gig. Even though there is nothing in the works, Gadot is more than a game to pop into the MCU while pitching the idea of having Wonder Woman appear in an Avengers film and vice versa.

"Maybe we can do something like, you know, Wonder Woman appears in the Avengers and the Avengers appears in Wonder Woman. We’ll see, I mean I’m open. I’m all about love and I like my friends both in DC and Marvel. So we’ll see."

Can Wonder Woman Be the Tony Stark of the DCEU?

As fun as it would be to see the comic book film franchises together in the same realm, a crossover event between the MCU and DCEU is easier said than done. Gadot's comments about wanting a crossover to happen come only a few weeks after Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson also shared how he would like to see a DCEU/MCU movie happen somehow. Johnson took it a step further, stating how he thinks it's not a matter of if it will happen but rather when.

Despite DC and Marvel Comics having done crossovers, making that happen between two major film franchises like the DCEU and MCU comes with multiple legalities that would demand a lot of time to figure out. If a Justice League/Avengers movie were to be put on the table, it would go down as one of the most expensive film events due to character rights and other financial costs. In a perfect world, instead of having continuous comparisons between DCEU and MCU, seeing Wonder Woman with any of the Avengers would be a massive blast. Wonder Woman's Gadot may not be able to bring Diana to the MCU anytime soon. Still, it won't stop anyone from imagining what the studios could do if they had a crossover with the DCEU.
