Disney+ has released the highly anticipated Hocus Pocus 2 trailer ahead of its September 30th release. Fans are excited to dive into Disney's latest revisit of a beloved classic with this fall's legacy sequel to 1993's Hocus Pocus. The original film features Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as the witchy Sanderson sisters in a Halloween-themed romp. Nearly three decades later, the trio will reprise their roles in the sequel, which will see the child-hungry sisters terrorizing a new cast of kids in a modern setting. The film is also set to delve into the past, with flashbacks revealing the sisters' origins.

Hocus Pocus was released to tepid success in the '90s but has since gained cult status as a Halloween staple. After the sequel's announcement in October 2019, not much information was released about the film besides the return of the original stars as well as Doug Jones as Billy Butcherson. However, a teaser was finally released earlier this year and the movie began trending online. Since then, Disney has offered a few glimpses of the film, including a humorous image of the Sanderson sisters in a Walgreens.

Now, Walt Disney Studios has unveiled the full trailer on YouTube. In the extended glimpse of the supernatural film, the Sanderson sisters' origin story is teased, and there is also plenty of footage of the trio running amok in modern Salem. See the trailer below:

The trailer offers an exciting glimpse of some newcomers to the franchise, including Whitney Peak, and features a mini Ted Lasso reunion with Hannah Waddingham and Sam Richardson making appearances. In one of the stand-out moments from the trailer, the Sanderson sisters, whose story hinges around them being hellbent on staying young forever, browse the beauty aisle in Walgreens, even taking a face mask out of its packaging. The trailer also reveals Billy Butcherson's revival in a scene perfect for getting into the spooky spirit of the film. Fans will likely be most excited to see the heavily teased Sanderson sisters' origin story, and based on the stirring flashback moments in the trailer, the movie will deliver.

Though Hocus Pocus 2 came nearly thirty years after the first film, a sequel may not be far off, with director Anne Fletcher previously teasing that the end of the film leaves things open for another movie if everyone involved decides to sign on again. Of course, a universe as limitless as the one created in Hocus Pocus is always open for a return. The success of the Disney+ sequel, when it releases later this month, will likely dictate the direction of the franchise. Based on the online buzz the film is already generating, Hocus Pocus 2 is shaping up to be a hit.
