Mila Kunis’ perfect life begins to fall apart in the new trailer for Luckiest Girl Alive. Based on the similarly named New York Times bestseller by Jessica Knoll, the new film centers on Kunis as Ani Fanelli, a stylish and successful magazine editor whose life appears to be the embodiment of perfection. However, just as she prepares to tie the knot with the man of her dreams (Finn Wittrock), her world is shaken by the appearance of a documentary maker looking to dig up a shocking childhood event.

With a month to go until its streaming debut, Netflix has released the trailer for Luckiest Girl Alive. Introducing Ani and her somewhat artificial but seemingly idyllic lifestyle, she is quickly thrown off kilter by the arrival of a true crime documentarian with questions about her past. “People want to know, were you a hero or an accomplice,” says the filmmaker, jumping between scenes of Ani and her unhappy school-age self. “I don’t know what part is me and what part I invented,” she confides in her fiancé as her demons begin to resurface around her, culminating in a string of allegations from a former classmate.
