After scoring strong reviews from its Cannes Film Festival premiere, the first Armageddon Time trailer arrived revealing the harrowing period drama from Ad Astra's James Gray. The film features a star-studded roster of acclaimed actors, including Anne Hathaway, Jeremy Strong, Anthony Hopkins, Michael Banks Repeta, Jaylin Webb and Jessica Chastain. Armageddon Time centers on a young white boy who finds himself separated from his Black friend in 1980s New York after they get in trouble and learns the dark realities of the time.

With just over a month remaining until the film hits theaters, Focus Features has released the official Armageddon Time trailer. Based on the Armageddon Time trailer, the film looks to be a heartfelt period piece that seeks to explore the historical and interpersonal context of the 1980s, namely in regard to the still-prevelant racism of the time. For some, the film is a far cry from James Gray's previous film Ad Astra and its focus on space exploration, though similar to Ad Astra, it seems Armageddon Time will be a film focused on the bonds between characters. It will be interesting to compare the father-son dynamics of Ad Astra to the family relations and friendships set to be explored in Armageddon Time when it hits theaters on October 28.
