The Sanderson Sisters look out of place inside a Walgreens in a new photo from Disney's Hocus Pocus 2. Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker first brought the campy trio of witches to life in the original Hocus Pocus. Hellbent on staying young forever, the coven conjured up chaos in Salem throughout the 1993 flick, which has become a Halloween cult classic. Nearly three decades later, the Sanderson sisters have returned – with all three stars reprising their roles – for Hocus Pocus 2.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Helmed by Anne Fletcher (The Proposal), Hocus Pocus 2 filmed across a fabricated Salem set in Rhode Island during 2021. Once again centered on three kids trying to save Salem from the Sanderson's evil clutches, the movie sees a host of new faces enter the franchise, including: Whitney Peak (Gossip Girl), Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso) and Sam Richardson (After Party). Of course, audiences are mostly excited to see Midler, Najimy and Parker run amok in the sequel. Photo and video sneak peeks, including the Hocus Pocus 2 teaser trailer, indicate that the movie will not disappoint them.

A new photo first published by USA TODAY shows the Sanderson sisters looking very out of place inside a Walgreens. Sarah, Winnie and Mary Sanderson stand in the middle of the store like deer caught in headlights. Check out the movie still for yourself below:

From their concerned faces it seems as though the Sanderson sisters have found themselves in unfamiliar territory at Walgreens. Stalking in what appears to be the beauty aisle, Sarah, Winnie and Mary look up in fear at something offscreen. Their 17th century garb contrasts against the modern and stark store in a hilarious manner. Having a scene where the witches hag track through a modern store is a callback to a deleted scene from the original Hocus Pocus.

Fish out of water wickedness like this is a huge part of why audiences love the Sanderson sisters. There's something charming about seeing the evil-hearted heathens attempt to navigate modern times. Hocus Pocus was filled with moments like this, from the Sanderson sister's fear of safety fire sprinklers to their joint confusion over paved roads. Having them browse a Walgreens in the sequel is a good sign for the followup film, alluding to the fact that creatives made a point to conjure up a recipe that made the first one so special. Of course, audiences won't know for certain until Hocus Pocus 2 soars on Disney+ on September 30.
