The Internet is divided over whether or not Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine during a viral moment from the Don't Worry Darling premiere. The former One Direction band member made the transition to acting with Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk in 2017 and recently made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Starfox during Eternals' post-credits scene. Pine, on the other hand, is also well-known for his role in a superhero franchise, having starred as Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman and its sequel, Wonder Woman 1984. Now, the two star together in Don't Worry Darling.

Other than Styles and Pine, Olivia Wilde's new film features an ensemble cast that also includes Florence Pugh, Gemma Chan, KiKi Layne, and Nick Kroll. Don't Worry Darling has been shrouded in controversy since early on in production when Shia LaBeouf departed the project and was soon replaced by Styles. There have also been rumors of a behind-the-scenes romance between Styles and Wilde as well as a falling out between Pugh and the director. Now, the Don't Worry Darling drama is continuing at the film's world premiere.

As the Don't Worry Darling cast convened for the Venice International Film Festival, a viral clip from the film's premiere has the Internet debating whether or not Styles spat on Pine ahead of the screening. According to video taken from several different angles, Styles appears to subtly spit on Pine as he was taking a seat next to his co-star. Check out a few of the reactions to this bizarre moment below:

The video, which is being dissected online more than the Zapruder film, shows Styles bending down slightly to take a seat, which appears to be the moment in which he hocked the loogie in his co-star's lap. Pine reacts immediately by looking down, stops clapping, and appears amused by the absurdity of what just transpired. Needless to say, the Internet is going crazy about the moment between the two male co-stars which has been dubbed "Spitgate," though many are debating whether or not any saliva was actually involved.

Many social media users are jumping to Styles defense by claiming the video shows no evidence of spit actually leaving his mouth, leading to a demand for more video angles. Others are using prior video of Pine zoning out during the film festival as an explanation for his behavior, as he was possibly looking for his sunglasses. Whatever, if anything, transpired between the two before the Don't Worry Darling premiere, it appears to have been amicable based on Pine's reaction, though many questions about what exactly happened and why, still remain.
