Top Gun: Maverick's success continues at home as it is currently number one on every major digital platform. Since premiering in theaters on May 27, the long-awaited Top Gun sequel has proven time and time again to be a rampant box office phenomenon. After setting a record in its opening Memorial Day weekend, Top Gun: Maverick passed the $1 billion mark to become Tom Cruise's highest-grossing film of his career. To date, the sequel has raked in over $1.4 billion at the box office.

This past Labor Day weekend, more than three months after Top Gun: Maverick was first released in theaters, the movie reclaimed its number one spot at the box office amidst little competition. Thanks to this recent resurgence, Top Gun: Maverick passed Black Panther to become the fifth highest-grossing domestic movie. For those who didn't want to head out to a theater, the film is also available on home media, where it just became the best-selling digital release in its first week of availability.

Top Gun: Maverick continues to soar following the film's first week of digital availability. The movie currently holds the number one spot on every digital platform, according to IndieWire, including iTunes, Google Play, and Vudu, where it is available to rent for $19.99.

Since its home media release on August 23, Top Gun: Maverick's early digital sales have been just as impressive as its box office success. After just a week of availability, it's already one of the 20 best-selling digital releases in history. Other than the platforms mentioned above, the film's digital release also managed to become the top-selling item on Amazon on its first day. In addition to claiming the number one spot on iTunes, the Top Gun (1986) and Top Gun: Maverick bundle climbed to number five on the platform.

Top Gun: Maverick may not play as well at home as in an IMAX theater with all its high-octane aviation sequences. However, there is clearly still a huge audience out there interested in watching the film at home, whether it's their first viewing or their umpteenth rewatch. Or perhaps, at this point, the biggest draw for home audiences is the 110 minutes of bonus features included with the digital release. If its box office and early digital success is any indication, this is likely just the beginning of many weeks on top of the VOD charts for Top Gun: Maverick.
