Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Simu Liu shows off his impressive archery skills in a new video, saying that he learned them from Hawkeye. Released last year to strong reviews from both audiences and critics, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings introduces Liu's titular hero into the MCU. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who was recently tapped to direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, the film chronicles Shang-Chi's confrontation with his past as he finds himself entangled with the notorious Ten Rings criminal organization.

Although the film was a hit, Shang-Chi has yet to team up with other MCU heroes (aside from a brief meeting with Bruce Banner, Wong, and Captain Marvel in a post-credits scene). Not long after the first film's success, it was announced that a sequel had been given the green light, with Liu and Cretton expected to return. The introduction of Liu's new hero coincides with a general changing of the guard within the MCU, as many of the franchise's original heroes, like Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man and Chris Evans' Captain America, either die or retire, paving the way for new heroes to take over. While Liu's Shang-Chi has yet to meet many other heroes, a new video from Liu suggests he's had his eye on Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye.

In a new post on his Instagram, Liu shares a video of himself with a bow and arrow, testing his skills at a fairground archery booth. "Picked up a few pointers from Hawkeye back in the day," the star jokes before sending a toy arrow directly into the target's bullseye. Check out Liu's new video below:

Although the actor's Hawkeye reference is just a passing joke, many fans have expressed interest in Shang-Chi's future in the MCU and how he will interact with the other heroes being introduced. After the host of announcements at Marvel's SDCC panel this summer, Liu joked that he likely has a busy few years ahead of him, hinting that he expects to be a part of many of the major MCU movies to come. However, whether he will ever get to share the screen with Renner's Hawkeye is another matter.

After the release of Hawkeye last year and the introduction of Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop, it's unclear whether Renner will return to the MCU. While the show was generally well-liked by audiences and critics, Hawkeye season 2 has yet to be officially greenlit, and Renner doesn't seem to know if he'll be back. After the success of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, however, Liu appears to be poised to take on a significant role in the MCU at large, meaning, at the very least, he might get to share the screen with Steinfeld's archery-inclined new hero.
