Director Zack Snyder announces that fans can win the chance to visit the set of his new Netflix film, Rebel Moon, which is currently in production. After having launched and broadened the DCEU with films like Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League, Snyder has found Netflix as a new home for his filmmaking. Since starting his collaboration with the popular streamer, Snyder has already launched his own extended universe with Army of the Dead, a zombie heist adventure that's already getting prequels and sequels.

However, Netflix and Snyder are just getting started, as the director is now busy shooting his latest project. Announced in 2021, Snyder is helming Rebel Moon, another original creation that is inspired by the Star Wars films and director Akira Kurosawa. The story takes place in a distant galaxy and follows a peaceful colony that will battle the mighty warlord Balisarius, played by Ed Skrein. While Rebel Moon is set to debut on Netflix, no release date has been confirmed yet for Snyder's sci-fi project.

With only a few months of principal photography left to go, fans now have a chance to be part of Rebel Moon in a unique way. Snyder and his frequent collaborator Justin Raleigh, the special effects makeup designer, have announced a new contest for Rebel Moon that could include a set visit for the Netflix movie. Fans can submit an original idea and design for an alien – that can be either an organic or mechanized character – that could fit into the Rebel Moon universe. Netflix confirms ten winners will be picked to visit the Rebel Moon movie set in Los Angeles later this year and bring their original creations into the sci-fi adventure. Check out Snyder's announcement video below, that includes a link with full details on the contest.

Given that Rebel Moon is something Snyder is creating from scratch, this is a phenomenal way for passionate fans to contribute to his franchise, which is potentially already going forward beyond the first film. Following Snyder's comments about hoping to flesh out this universe, a sequel has seemingly already been confirmed. In late August, it was revealed that one of the 18 Hollywood productions that have gotten tax credits to film in California was Rebel Moon Part 2. Even though Netflix has yet to comment on it, Rebel Moon Part 2 will get over $16 million dollars in tax credits for a budget that will spend $83 million dollars during principal photography.

For the lucky winners, whatever original designs they submit, those creatures could potentially then be featured in the Rebel Moon sequel and potential spinoffs if Snyder continues to expand the franchise. It's not every day that a filmmaker lets fans get this involved with a film or TV show, especially for franchises that are just getting started. But Snyder has never been the most conventional filmmaker. It wouldn't be shocking if he does a similar contest for his Army of the Dead sequel, Planet of the Dead, which will be his next project after Rebel Moon. With roughly 3 weeks left to submit their original designs for Rebel Moon, it will be exciting to see what type of characters fans will create for Snyder's film.
