With just over a month to go until its release, Halloween Ends director David Gordon Green reveals that he is still tinkering with the film's ending on a daily basis. John Carpenter's 1978 horror classic, Halloween introduced audiences to one of horror's most memorable final girls, Laurie Strode played by Jamie Lee Curtis. Alongside Strode, the film also introduced the merciless serial killer Michael Myers, who has gone on to become one of the most iconic figures of not only the genre, but pop culture as a whole.

2018 reinvigorated the much loved franchise by welcoming back Curtis and reintroducing audiences to a modern day Strode, who had been patiently waiting for the day Michael Myers would return. Both Halloween and it's 2021 sequel, Halloween Kills enjoyed enormous success at the box office as they followed Strode's daughter and granddaughter, played by Judy Greer and Andi Matichak, respectively. As this trilogy of legacy sequels now looks to draw to a close with this year's Halloween Ends, the film's director has detailed his intentions in getting the movie's ending just right.
While speaking to Empire recently, Green revealed that he is still editing aspects of the film's ending even now, with the film set for a mid-October release. The director, who has helmed this new trilogy in its entirety, revealed that the ending "changes every day." Green shared that the overall arc of the ending is locked in place, however, he frequently finds himself tweaking certain elements. Fueling the excitement that already surrounds the film's release, Green continued that Halloween Ends is going to "go out with a bang." Check out Green's full quote below.

As Halloween Ends inches closer and closer to its release, various teasers have dropped that have offered exciting glimpses at what is to come in this dramatic conclusion. While Halloween Ends will bring Laurie Strode's story in Haddonfield, Illinois to a close, Carpenter recently teased the possibility of future projects within the Halloween franchise, with the caveat that it could ultimately depend on Halloween Ends box office performance. With Halloween Kills having laid some interesting groundwork for this upcoming threequel to progress on from, it remains to be seen just what lies ahead.
Green's passion for the Halloween franchise is certainly evident, with audiences having previously praised the director for rebooting the franchise with films that largely honor the original. While news that the film is still being tinkered with so close to its slated release date may make some people nervous, it's more than likely that this will only make for a better film as a whole, particularly when you consider that he is taking both Carpenter and Curtis' input into account. As Michael Myers' return now looms, audiences can rest easy knowing that Green's ultimate goal with Halloween Ends is to create a satisfying and worthy conclusion to both Laurie and Curtis' story.
