Contains SPOILERS for Me TimeThe movie Me Time's ending provides a satisfying conclusion for most of the key players. The Netflix buddy comedy sees full-time dad Sonny Fisher (Kevin Hart) and professional party animal Huck Dembo (Mark Wahlberg) come to terms with getting estranged and living starkly different lives. Along with the rest of the Me Time cast, Sonny and Huck's lives get upended when they unexpectedly reunite.

Curiously, it was Sonny's wife, superstar architect Maya (Regina Hall), who insisted that Sonny reunite with Huck in the first place, although no one could have expected the results of Sonny and Huck's respective journeys. Maya certainly never expected that Sonny and Huck reuniting would lead to them inadvertently hurting the tortoise Ol' Snappy. While Sonny's "me time" results in several unexpected consequences, in the end, Sonny, Maya, and Huck realize that they're ultimately stronger together.

Me Time ends happily as Maya finally starts her own architectural firm while Sonny and Huck start a successful children's events company called Dembo/Fisher Productions. Apart from saving Sonny and Maya's marriage, the Me Time ending also sees Huck getting freed from his debts to the violent loan shark Stan Berman (Jimmy Yang). Here's everything else viewers need to know about the 2022 Netflix movie Me Time ending.

Me Time's Dembo/Fisher Productions Explained

Mark Wahlberg, Regina Hall, and Kevin Hart in Me Time

The whole point of Sonny and Huck's shenanigans in Me Time is for them to realize that they make each other better people, giving birth to Dembo/Fisher Productions. A former party animal himself, Sonny has his life under control – but in the process of becoming a responsible dad, he nearly forgot who he truly was. This led Sonny to unhealthily project and push his own dreams of being a musician on his son Dash (Che Tafari), and basically become obsessed with controlling and protecting his family. Meanwhile, the equally charismatic and capable Huck never stopped being a party animal or being true to himself – but he also did this through incurring debts to very dangerous people. Propelled by the magnetic chemistry between Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg in Me Time, Dembo/Fisher Productions represents the balance between the controlling Sonny and the unpredictable Huck.

By founding a joint money-making venture that's hinged on their collective skills and potential, Sonny can make sure Huck never gets indebted to the wrong people again, while Huck can keep Sonny from eventually running Sycamore Elementary like a police state. Even more than Sonny and Maya, Sonny and Huck need each other, and the existence of Dembo/Fisher Productions ensures that they'll never be separated again. It's the ultimate bromance between two very different alphas.

Why Huck Was Obsessed With George Clooney

Mark Wahlberg and Kevin Hart in Me Time

Huck's hilarious obsession with George Clooney represents Huck Dembo's skewed life priorities, massive ego, and jealousy over Sonny's apparent stability. As revealed by Sonny in the Me Time ending, Huck wasn't even aware of the real circumstances of Clooney's life, and Clooney was supposedly his idol. Indeed, Huck's idol worship has nothing to do with George Clooney's filmography or even the actor's real life. A highly capable but simple-minded man, Huck simply saw a handsome father figure who seemed to have transitioned ever so smoothly from bachelorhood to becoming a husband and father. Worshipping Clooney was Huck's thinly-veiled attempt at subtly expressing that he's jealous of Sonny's family and accomplishments. After Sonny and Huck went their separate ways, Huck's admiration for Clooney ballooned into senseless celebrity worship in order to fill the gaping hole in his life that Sonny used to occupy.

Why Sonny and Maya Get Back Together In The Me Time Ending

Me Time ending explained

Maya forgave Sonny for his and Huck's dangerous and impulsive decisions because none of it changed the fact that Sonny is a great father and husband. As for Sonny, his "me time" away from his wife and kids helped him realize how he can do even better. Indeed, despite the hilarious Me Time Screen Rant interview with Andrew Santino, Santino's character Alan Geller (Andrew Santino) wasn't just for comic relief. Alan served as a warning – an example of what Sonny could become if he never reunited with Huck and got back in touch with his true self. As flawed as Alan was, he helped Sonny realize that he is a better person with both Maya and Huck by his side, striking a balance between being the best father he can be while no longer denying himself true happiness. In hindsight, as Maya was the one who insisted that Sonny meet up with Huck in the first place, Maya arguably knows Sonny better than he knows himself – it's undeniable that they belong together.

Why Maya's Mom's Erotic Novel Is Titled "Behind The Queen"

As Maya's mom Connie (Anna Maria Horsford) explains, she finally finished her erotic novel and called it "Behind The Queen" because she was inspired by Sonny and Maya's supportive relationship. This reveal was the moment where Me Time director John Hamburg realized his goal of creating a truly touching but also really hilarious moment. On one hand, Sonny and Maya's ordeal in Me Time also caused Connie to reconnect with her own husband Gil (John Amos), and to finally pursue one of her biggest dreams, which is what "Behind The Queen" represents. On the other hand, though proud of what Connie had accomplished, viewers can't blame Sonny and Maya for getting awkward and making a quick exit upon finding out that they inspired Maya's mom to finish an erotic novel.

Why Sonny Lets The Kids Run The Talent Show

Me Time ending explained

This Me Time scene was not only a set-up for Sonny's final inspirational speech, it also gave Dash the opportunity to finally assert himself to his overbearing father. Sonny finally letting the kids have their fun without his supervision showed Maya that Sonny was, above all else, a great dad. Although Armando (Luis Gerardo Mendez) and Maya's professional relationship caused Sonny to be unjustly jealous, Sonny letting the kids run the talent show was what finally convinced Maya that his husband is worth keeping. Besides, after Dash finally got to do what he wanted, he turned out to be an amazingly smooth stand-up comedian. Maybe there is something to the Little Silk nickname that Dr. Silk was pushing on his son afterall.
