Following a string of hits, Nicolas Cage has joined the cast of the A24 comedy movie Dream Scenario. Written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli, the upcoming picture will be produced under Square Peg, the production company founded by Lars Knudsen and Ari Aster, the director behind two of A24’s most noteworthy projects, Hereditary and Midsommar. Having signed a first-look deal with the studio last year, Aster is also looking forward to the release of Disappointment Blvd., his latest film under the A24 banner starring Joaquin Phoenix described as a horror-comedy.

Now, Deadline reports that Cage has officially joined the cast of Dream Scenario. Little is known about the nature of Cage’s new role, or the story behind the project itself, though sources describe it as a comedy. Further details surrounding the film have yet to be provided, though Jacob Jaffke and Tyler Campellone will also produce.
Currently enjoying a major career revival, Cage’s latest role comes just months after the release of Tom Gormican’s comedy film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, in which he was lauded for portraying himself alongside Pedro Pascal as a millionaire super-fan. Equally celebrated for his role as a reclusive truffle farmer in the award-winning drama Pig, Cage will also make his first foray into the Western genre this September with Gabe Polsky’s Butcher’s Crossing. While audiences await details on Dream Scenario, they can look forward to his turn as Dracula with the horror-comedy movie Renfield hitting theaters on April 14.
