The Jurassic World franchise has passed a major box office milestone, as the trilogy has earned over $6 billion in its total worldwide earnings. The continuation of the Jurassic Park franchise began in 2015 with Colin Trevorrow's Jurassic World. The third and final installment of the trilogy, Jurassic World Dominion, was released on June 10, 2022.

Over 14 years after Jurassic Park 3 took audiences to Isla Nublar once more, Trevorrow's Jurassic World revived the dormant franchise for a new generation. After envisioning a successful but overly-commercialized realization of John Hammond's (Richard Attenborough) dream of a dinosaur wildlife sanctuary, the series quickly ventured beyond the park and explored the place of dinosaurs in a modern world through the eyes of raptor-trainer Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), park operations manager-turned-dinosaur rights activist Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), and other characters both new and familiar to the franchise. While fans may revisit the Jurassic World Dominion's home release's extended edition following its release on DVD and Blu-ray, the film's performance at the international box-office has seen the franchise cross a major milestone.

As reported by Deadline, Jurassic World Dominion has currently earned $615.7 million at the international box office, becoming the third highest-grossing film in Hollywood since theaters re-opened following closure during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. This currently positions Jurassic World Dominion as the fourth highest-performing Jurassic Park film in the international box office, with Jurassic World taking the top position, followed by Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and the original Jurassic Park film. However, Jurassic World Dominion's international box-office performance has allowed the franchise to gross over $6 billion from international markets across all six films.

The Jurassic World franchise surpassing $6 billion internationally may somewhat surprise audiences due to Jurassic World Dominion's less-than-favorable reviews and reactions. Jurassic World Dominion has accumulated a Rotten Tomatoes critical score of 29%, a 13% decrease from the 42% that it was rewarded upon release, giving it the worse score of the six film franchise. The common consensus among critics stated that they felt that the franchise had lost the appeal that it once had, even despite some improvements over prior installments and following the return of original film stars Sam Neil, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, and BD Wong. Despite this, the third installment seems to at least be warmly received by audiences, as seen with Jurassic World Dominion's international box-office takings and the film's 77% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Jurassic World Dominion serves as the conclusion of the current narrative of the franchise, book-ending the series after almost 30 years of storytelling. And while critics may have their reservations, it is clear negative reactions haven't affected Jurassic World Dominion's crew or audience's enjoyment of the franchise, as the prehistoric adventure has become a high-performer among post-pandemic releases. While it may not be known where the franchise will go next, the finale of the Jurassic World trilogy has at least helped the series pass a new box-office milestone to wrap up this era of the franchise.
