Miles Teller and Glen Powell reunite in a new photo proving that there's no rivalry between them like their Top Gun: Maverick characters, Rooster and Hangman. Tom Cruise revisited one of, if not his most iconic roles to date in the Top Gun sequel. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, Top Gun: Maverick saw the daredevil pilot return to TOPGUN Academy to spearhead a brand new mission alongside several of his contemporaries.

While Top Gun: Maverick mainly focused on Maverick, it also introduced a string of new Navy recruits representing the new generation of elite pilots. Among them are Hangman and Rooster. The pair's dynamic at the start of the movie is reminiscent of Maverick and Iceman's relationship back in the day when they were TOPGUN trainees themselves. Bringing different things to the Navy and the specific mission in the Top Gun sequel, the young flyers ultimately found a way to work together, and perhaps even became friends in the end.

For Teller and Powell, however, it doesn't seem like there was never any kind of competition between them. They prove this when they recently reunited at an event as seen on an image shared by Teller on his official Twitter account. In the snap, the Top Gun: Maverick co-stars pose gleefully with each other, with the Rooster actor referencing their Top Gun franchise characters in the caption. Check out Teller's image below:

It's worth noting that Powell originally auditioned to play Rooster in Top Gun: Maverick — a role that ultimately went to Teller. Despite this, the Set It Up actor made such a lasting impression on star and producer Cruise that he found a way to cast him in the follow-up. Powell has been open about this experience, and it never sounded like he had ill feelings towards his co-star landing the role he originally wanted. In any case, everything worked out for the best. Teller was great as the younger Bradshaw, even mimicking Goose's iconic Great Balls of Fire performance in the original film. Meanwhile, Powell also shone as the cocky Hangman. While his role was smaller than his fellow actor, he stole almost every scene that he was in. There are even arguments that Hangman is Maverick's true successor.

At the end of Top Gun: Maverick, Hangman and Rooster finally set aside their rivalry as they focus on their common goal. Both survived the dangerous endeavor and with buzz around the possible Top Gun 3 getting louder every day thanks to the success of Kosinski's film, chances are that the pair will headline the threequel as Cruise possibly steps back from being the face of the franchise. Seeing Teller and Powell genuinely liking each other is great news, especially since they may be working closely with each other in the years to come as Paramount builds their next action franchise.
