Screen Rant is pleased to exclusively present a clip from Samuel Goldwyn Films' new documentary, Blind Ambition, which premieres today in select theaters and will be simultaneously available on digital. Directed by Australian filmmakers Warwick Ross and Rob Coe, the new documentary already proved its ability to touch hearts when it won the Tribeca Film Festival Audience Award in 2021. It centers on a group of Zimbabwean refugees who form the first national wine-tasting team and rise to the top of South Africa's sommelier scene.

Joseph, Tinashe, Marlvin, and Pardon are the subjects of Blind Ambition, having left their homeland of Zimbabwe due to economic strife and the threat of tyranny. Upon their arrival in South Africa, they become interested in wine due to their work in restaurants. Soon enough, they decide to compete in The World Wine Blind Tasting Championship, which takes place in France. The documentary chronicles their ambition (as the title notes), as well as their dedication to the craft and loyalty to not only each other but also their community back home.
Screen Rant can officially present an exclusive clip from Blind Ambition, in which the dedication of the sommeliers is revealed as they prepare themselves two days before the wine-tasting competition. Though it can be an exhausting experience, requiring one's attention and efforts in any situation, their joy is palpable and their passion for curating their palate is catching. The directors have both worked on documentaries before, with Ross having previously produced and directed the award-winning Red Obsession, which touches on the wine industry in Bordeaux. Coe, meanwhile, was also an executive producer for Red Obsession as well as a producer for Beast, a documentary that followed a young boxer in Manila. Blind Ambition was co-written by the two of them, as well as by Paul Murphy and Madeleine Ross.
Other recent releases from Samuel Goldwyn Films include Attack on Finland, The Royal, and Art of Love. Aside from Blind Ambition, September will also see the release of True Things, an intoxicating tale of love and obsession that stars Ruth Wilson. They will also bring Henrik M. Dahlsbakken's haunting Norwegian folk horror film to the US in October. Their diverse repertoire once more proves Samuel Goldwyn Films' commitment to placing innovation and passion first when it comes to their storytelling, and Blind Ambition fits right into that mantra.
