Sebastian Stan, Seth Rogen, Paul Dano, and Pete Davidson will reportedly star in a film about the take-down of GameStop stock titled Dumb Money. The film is one of multiple projects in development chronicling the true story of how amateur investors short squeezed GameStop stock in 2021. Earlier this year, it was reported Craig Gillespie will direct Dumb Money, and now he's in the process of rounding out his cast.
Deadline reports Stan, Rogen, Dano, and Davidson have been cast in the film. Gillespie previously worked with Rogen and Stan on Pam & Tommy, and this will mark the first time that the acclaimed director will work with Dano and Davidson. Black Bear Pictures is financing the film, and a quote from Black Bear’s Teddy Schwarzman can be read below:
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY
"Black Bear has diamond hands for Dumb Money. Lauren & Rebecca have masterfully adapted Ben Mezrich’s exceptional book detailing one of the greatest underdog stories of our time. Craig Gillespie is a tremendous leader with exceptional vision and has assembled a tremendous ensemble. We’re honored to partner with him, Aaron Ryder, and this terrific team in front and behind the camera to bring Dumb Money to audiences everywhere."
Gillespie is known for his ability to adapt real life stories into exciting dramas that are often infused with a touch of humor, as evidenced by I, Tonya and Pam & Tommy. Hopefully this next venture will mark yet another successful adaption from a remarkable true story, and the casting choices of actors such as Stan, Rogen, Dano, and Davidson will make the film even more fun to watch. Viewers will have to continue following updates for Dumb Money as the film comes to fruition.
