A fan-made teaser for Deadpool 3 imagines how Hugh Jackman's Wolverine returns from the grave in the upcoming MCU sequel. Although initially introduced in X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009, Ryan Reynolds' current iteration of the foul-mouthed anti-hero first hit screens in 2016 with the release of Deadpool. The success of the first film led to a sequel only 2 years later, but the planned third film, Deadpool 3, experienced a number of delays, in part due to Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019. Now, however, Deadpool is finally poised to be introduced into the MCU in Deadpool 3, which is due out in 2024.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Although many details regarding Deadpool 3 remain unknown, a recent video posted to Reynolds' Twitter account gave fans their first major bit of info about the film, with the reveal that it will feature the return of Jackman's Wolverine. This, unsurprisingly, was a very exciting announcement for many fans, but it's also raised a number of questions regarding how the fan-favorite hero's return is actually possible. After playing the role for close to 20 years, starting with 2000's X-Men, Jackman seemingly said a very definitive goodbye to Wolverine in 2017's Logan, which ends with his death and subsequent burial.

A new video from Bosslogic on Instagram teases one way Wolverine could return from the grave in Deadpool 3. The teaser is from the point of view of Jackman's Wolverine as his clawed hand emerges from the dirt while Reynolds' Deadpool stands over him, waving playfully and holding a shovel. The short teaser also features the song "Hello" by Adele, with the lyrics acting as a reference to how long fans have wanted to see the two characters united on screen. How Will Deadpool 3 Bring Back Wolverine?

Although Bosslogic's video presents one possible explanation for Wolverine's return in Deadpool 3, a recent video shared by Reynolds suggests that Logan's ending will remain unchanged. After all, as Reynolds explains, Logan takes place in 2029, so if Deadpool 3 takes place before that, then Jackman's Wolverine hasn't actually died yet. Furthermore, Logan doesn't actually take place in the MCU and Deadpool 3 does, so the two films are set in entirely different universes.

Despite the fact that Deadpool 3 is seemingly completely unrelated to Logan, some fans are still understandably hesitant about the idea of Wolverine's return after Jackman's widely-praised sendoff in James Mangold's 2017 hit. It remains to be seen how Deadpool 3 will handle these concerns, but it's likely that the franchise's self-aware comedy will reference Logan and poke fun at the confusing nature of his return in some way. While many questions remain about the specifics of how Jackman's Wolverine will be brought back, Deadpool 3 is already shaping up to be a unique and exciting entry into the MCU.
